Ok, im going to do this in several posts, to prove to marwa that im working on it Razz

I'm going to start at the only reasonable place, Chapter 4. Agression.

We need to know 2 explanations of aggression the "social psychological" explanation and the "biological" explanation.

In the social psychological explanation i see an old friend in social learning theory, which is where the infamous bobo doll experiment started...

Social learning theory says we learn aggression through 3 steps. First is observation, we see someone being agressive and learn the behavior, and we see how people react to that in either a positive or negative way and is vicarious reinforcement... the actions are reinforced within you even though your witnessing it in someone else.

after observation there is mental representation The individual pictures the events within his/her mind, they also picture the possible rewards or punishments.

finally there is production of behavior, the agression is directly reinforced now, the likelyhood of agression is increased if there is a high self-efficacy for production... thats if the action paid off.

to tie up social learning theory theres a bit of commentary, first heres 2 notes on the bobo doll.

children watched a clip of an adult attacking a bobo doll, then there were a number of clips shown to different groups of the adult being pushished, rewarded and another showing no outcome.

the children imitated the adult (or model) only if he was positively rewarded in the video.

ok, lil-comentary. learning takes place regardless of the outcome, but its only reproduced if it was seen as positive.

social learning theory applies to adults too, a research in america confirmed this - when boxing was shown to be linked to the homicide rates.

    ----------------------------

Is this what you had in mind marwa?

only 1? ok, il give it a shot.

Bandura's experiment, the bobo doll study, took children and taught them violent acts. A third of the children repeated aggressive phrases used by the models. this could be seem as harm done to their personality, without the study these children could have lead less violent lives. On the other hand the children will be exposed to this kind of aggression eventually, if they haven't already been. bandura's experiment interferes with the development of these children.

    blerg. rubbish answer.
